JAMESTOWN — The University of Jamestown football team entered its bye week after a third straight one-possession loss, falling 28-20 to Minot State on Saturday, Oct. 10. UJ had the ball at the Minot State 4-yard line with a chance to tie in the final seconds. Dosch said UJ stayed in position despite inconsistent play across all three phases. On the tape Dosch said the passing game was more efficient than in previous weeks, while quarterback Jacob Mattick continued to show growth with his legs. Mattick scored on 29- and 7-yard runs, both on designed quarterback run plays. Jacob s gained confidence along the way, Dosch said. He s starting to play faster, and I think the game has slowed down a little bit. Jackson Walters blocked a 55-yard field-goal attempt, while Kobe Irmen placed three of four punts inside the 20. Dosch said UJ also committed more penalties than it had in previous games, including procedure penalties that put the offense behind schedule.
