Sand cliffs up to 14 feet high damage Brevard County coastline — Oviedo Real Estate news

Days of strong northeast winds and unusually high tides have caused significant beach erosion in Brevard County, leaving sand cliffs measuring as much as 14 feet high in one documented location.County officials said Wednesday that dune erosion is most pronounced in narrower sections of the Mid Reach and South Beaches. Repair options are under consideration, but recommendations will wait until conditions improve. The update follows beach crossover closures in Satellite Beach earlier this week because erosion created dangerous drop-offs near access stairs.County documents steep drop-offsA county photo summary documents erosion in the South Beaches on Oct. 26, including:An 8- to 10-foot sand cliff near the ramp at Ponce De Leon Beach Park.An 8- to 10-foot sand cliff near a small hotel in the 3400 block of South Highway A1A.A 7- to 14-foot sand cliff near a home in the 5200 block of South Highway A1A.A separate Mid Reach summary includes photos documenting erosion near public access stairs
