Future firefighters in Brevard County will get hands-on experience with a full-size ladder truck, thanks to a donation from Canaveral Fire Rescue. The Canaveral Port Authority and Canaveral Fire Rescue have approved donating a 75-foot Pierce Velocity ladder truck to Eastern Florida State College’s Fire Training Center. The truck was previously used by Canaveral Fire Rescue. The college’s District Board of Trustees will use the apparatus for real-world training in its public safety programs. Students will be able to practice on industry-standard equipment as they prepare for firefighting careers across Brevard County and beyond.Officials say the donation gives EFSC students a valuable opportunity to train on the same type of equipment they could use on the job, strengthening the local pipeline of future first responders.Click here to download our free news, weather and smart TV apps.
